Food Service would like to remind parents that meals in the Richmond R-XVI School District are no longer free this year. Students with negative balances will only be allowed to charge regular meals each day (every student eats), and they will be prohibited from purchasing items such as snacks, drinks and extra entrees. Only those students that have completed and qualified by filing out the Free and Reduced Food Service Application will receive reduced or free breakfasts and lunches. Even though a student may qualify for Free or Reduced meals, parents are still obligated to pay negative balances. Parents are strongly encouraged to check their students lunch balances and correct the negative balance by making a payment to their students account. Online payments can be set up on your parent portal through RevTrak.
If you are unable to pay, you must apply for free and reduced meal benefits by submitting a paper application available to obtain and submit at the District office or your students building office. The application process only takes a few minutes. Newly approved applications will ONLY apply to future purchases of regular meals. Should you have any questions, please contact the Food Service Department at 816-776-6912.

We want to make sure you have accurate information and dispel any rumors you may have heard about the incident. Today, a student from the middle school brought a toy weapon on the bus. Your student(s) may come home telling you about this and we wanted you to be aware should any questions arise. A search was performed by school administration and determined there was no threat at any time to your child’s safety. This was just a toy. We take your child’s safety very seriously – which is why we do not allow any object designed to look like or imitate a weapon, per school district policy: JFCJ. We feel that open and clear communications with parents and students is important to enhance our safety efforts.
